Our Story and Ethos

Buendia is a local
cut flower microgrower

We grow seasonal, scented and sustainably. We pick fresh cut flowers from the Charnwood area in Leicestershire.

If you like fresh, not flown flowers, grown closer to you without pesticides, then this is your place.

Buendia means ‘A good day’ in Spanish. Our roots are in the South of Spain. We practice the slow movement; we live and promote a deeper connection to the season and the natural world. As mediterranean, we believe in and encourage a more conscious and sustainable consumption, which is also part of the slow living and food movement applied to cut flowers and pre-loved décor to bring joy to your spaces.

Bring nature into your rooms with flowers, foliage or fresh herbs, is one of the life’s smallest pleasures and so impactful in our daily life and wellbeing.

What is the slow flowers movement?

The slow flowers movement is a response to the disconnect between humans and flowers.

It promotes the following principles:

  • To recognise and respect the seasons by celebrating and designing with flowers when they naturally bloom.
  • To reduce the transportation footprint of the flowers and foliage consumed in the market by sourcing as locally as possible
  • To encourage sustainable farming practices in sync with environment and communities.
  • To proactively pursue accessibility, representation in the floral marketplace and encourage sustainable supply chain practices (farmers, floral designers and vendors)
  • To reduce waste, eliminate the use of pesticide products and proactively use sustainable techniques to avoid using green foam in the floral industry.

As a sustainable flower grower, we use regenerative and sustainability practices throughout the processing stage, enhancing the ecosystem and increasing biodiversity in the area we grow.
